Document attendance with our Children's Roll Books. This ever-popular record book was designed by Canavan Byrne and is one of our best-selling products on the Early Years Shop. It fulfils the three functions required to be compliant with the Childcare Act 1991 (Early Years Services). This includes roll call, Child Sign-In and Sign Out by and adult and Staff Sign-In and Sign-Out.
The regulatory Framework (Regulation 24) states ‘Each Child attending the service must be signed in and signed out by a relevant staff member (employee or unpaid worker)’ and that ‘A record of each child’s attendance is kept on a daily basis’ and 'must be available and easily accessible to relevant staff members'.
Document Attendance - What Should be Included?
Full name of each child attending the service
Date and time each child arrives and leaves
A record of the name of one of the following people at the time the child arrives and leaves: The person who delivers the child to the service and collects the child from the service or the employee or unpaid worker responsible for checking the children in and out
The record of attendance for each room accurately reflects the children in the room, and is updated when a child leaves or enters
Document Attendance and Monitor Movements of Staff
Our Canavan Byrne roll book allows for a daily record of staff signing in and out of a room. This is an essential record that will show a service is maintaining the correct ratio of staff to children in a room at all times.
In addition, the roll book has space to include each child's Unique Identifier, DOB, Start Date, Finish Date, 2 Parent/Guardian Names, 2 Authorised Collector Names and 2 Emergency Contacts. Each pair of facing pages contains a complete week of records.
One roll book provides records for the entire year (with a few extra weeks provided in case of error!) for up to 23 children. For ease of use the roll book features spiral binding. This allows the roll book to open all the way out and lie flat on a desk or table. Check out our video below to get a better look!
