Ramadan Emergent Interest Pack

5.00

Ramadan is one of the most important times of year to Muslims around the world. A month-long period of fasting and prayer, Ramadan commemorates the revelation of the Quran (the holy book of Islam) to the prophet Muhammad.

The end of Ramadan is marked by the holiday Eid al-Fitr (referred to simply as "Eid" pronounced "eed") which is a day of celebration, gift-giving and communal meals.

With our Ramadan Emergent Interest Pack, help the children in your service to learn about the different cultural and religious traditions around the world, and right here in Ireland! The Ramadan Emergent Interest Curriculum Plan is also a great way to introduce non-Muslim children to some of the culture and practices of any Muslim children in the service. Generally young children will not do any fasting though they will still probably be aware of the importance of Ramadan in their family and you may want to discuss what special things they will be doing during Ramadan and how they will celebrate Eid.
