We are delighted to bring you this 'Where I live' bundle which combines a Group Learning Journal from our “Documentation Made Simple Series” and our "Where I Live" Resource Pack, which includes a number of curriculum ideas to give you inspiration on community involvement and to respond to children’s own curiosity and emerging interests. Community Involvement is an element of evaluation included in the DES (Department of Education & Skills) inspection.
Enabling Educators to Build a Resource to Support the Emerging Interests of Children
Every order will include the downloadable Resource Packs and whatever number of Journals you require. We recommend one for each room. For the best value, choose '5 Journals' from the Quantity options.
About the 'Where I Live' Group Learning Journal
This open-ended A3 journal has a cover beautifully illustrated by Oliver Moore and Stephanie Morley. The 'Where I Live' Journal provides ample blank pages to document group observations, photographs, and children's own work. Each child has his/her own set of experiences and individual life story in the community in which they live. The child’s identity as an individual and as a member of a family and wider community is very important and should be supported by the early educator. The purpose of this journal is to document how you support each child’s engagement with their community and their emergent interests.

- The first page is dedicated to pasting in pictures of the children’s favourite things from their setting and encourages educators to get children to choose

About the 'Where I Live' Curriculum Plan Pack
The activities are designed to be flexible and adaptable to the varying types of Early Childhood Care and Education settings in operation within an Irish context. The themes and principles of both Aistear and Síolta have informed the ethos of the lesson plans.
