Under the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016 employers need to keep a comprehensive staff file on each member of staff. This includes a job description for each staff member. On the 7th of September 2022 the Early Years Sector has been subject to an Employment Regulation Order (ERO), providing new minimum hourly rates of pay for various roles in the Early Years Services Sector.
Employers must review current contracts to ensure each job title and function reflects the ERO. With our Job Description Pack (designed by Canavan Byrne) our templates have been updated to reflect the Early Years Roles including Full Day Care, Sessional and Afterschool Roles. It is important that you make two copies of the description. The employer and employee should sign both copies and one should be held on the employee file and the other should be retained by the employee.
This pack includes a description for each of these roles. Depending on the structure of your service you can mix and match them to create an accurate description to reflect the roles within your setting. In addition, we have included an Employment Regulation Order Fact Sheet that will guide services when updating each job description.
