Care Plans for Children with a Medical Condition

Care Plans are essential for children with individual medical conditions. Do you have a child in your service with a condition such as a nut allergy, asthma or eczema? Or is there a child with a more serious condition such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes or a heart condition? Whatever the condition any individual child may have, it is essential that the relevant and correct medical records are in place for each child.

Having the correct medical records in place ensures that a child receives the required quality of care and treatment. In addition, it ensures that staff are fully aware, prepared, and capable of administering correct care and treatment of a child with an allergy or medical condition. A care plan is unique to each child and requires specific relevant information and consent.

Care Plans and the Tusla Quality and Regulatory Framework

The Tusla Quality and Regulatory Framework states that; 'Children with additional health care needs should have a medical care plan in place so that they get the required quality of care and treatment if and when necessary’. This is an essential component of a service's quality, care and compliance standards. The Early Years Shop has 28 different medical care plans available that you can purchase for children in your care.

Each care plan has been written by Canavan Byrne and includes a cover sheet (GDPR protection), a sample letter to parents, a medical risk assessment and consent form. It also includes all the information (including illustrations) on the specific medical condition and the treatment required. Furthemore, it includes a medical administration and consent template containing all the required information fields.

When you purchase any care plan you also receive an Allergy Alert Notice and Cover Sheet. Individual care plans may also be required for a child suffering from a mild or serious allergy, depending on the nature of the allergy and any specific treatment required. It is very important that the Care plan is done with guidance from both the child’s parents and their own GP (where necessary).

You can purchase a care plan individually or you have the option of purchasing the Medical Care Plan Mega Bundle that includes all of the care plans and you save over €160.00! Remember Early Years Resource Factory members receive a 15% discount on all care plans!
