Inspection Tip : Job Descriptions

  • You are required to have a written description of roles and responsibilities for all members of staff under the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016 . This is to ensure there is clarity and accountability in relation to tasks and responsibilities.
  • You should review the job description with your employee, sign it off and hold on the employee’s file
  • Your staff may take on extra responsibilities. These should be added in to the job description. An Early Years Practitioner may, for example, take on the role of health and safety officer, fire warden or may be a keyholder. If so, expand your job descriptions accordingly
