Description

Katherine Zappone, the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, signed regulations in 2018 which mandate registration of school-age childcare services. This follows on from her signing the Childcare Support Act (Commencement) Order 2018 which amends the Child Care Act 1991 defining school-age service.

School-age childcare services that have complied with registration will be eligible for the Affordable Childcare Scheme which is planned for late 2019, giving savings to the families who use these services.

It is important that Early Years services understand the new regulation and to this end we provide today’s Friday Freebie: Highlights from New School Age Services Regulations! We suggest everyone download it and familiarise themselves with the requirements in preparation for registering (registration begins 18th February 2019).
