We all know how important it is to provide a safe environment for the children in our Early Years settings. Remember that in addition to providing safety controls of exits, safe play areas, and assessment of physical hazards in the rooms and outside, it is also important that you have very good procedures and policies in place with regard to Food Handlers and Safety!
This week’s Friday Freebie is a form from our Employee Management Pack: Fitness to Work – Food Handler Form. This form is filled in by any staff member who will be preparing or handling food in your service and serves as their verification that they are unlikely to be transmitting any serious illness or infection. It is essential that you have the correct documentation in place in case of any unfortunate incident, and generally this will show your commitment to safety in case of inspection. Providing this paperwork to staff also helps ensure that they honestly think about and assess the possibility that it will be risky for them to handle food.
