‘Wood You Like’ is a small, Irish woodcraft business owned by Eamonn O’Callaghan, producing handcut jigsaws, toys and puzzles in solid wood at different levels of complexity for all ages. They use salvaged Irish hardwoods like beech, ash and walnut. All the wood is dried in their own kiln and all their products are finished with toy-tested, non-toxic paints, finishes and lacquers.
We are offering just one range of handmade four-part animal jigsaws. These may sound simple but they are a challenge for all pre-schoolers and are lovely to handle and play with.
‘Wood You Like’ will give your service a distinctive advantage. Make sure to be stocked up with these fabulous puzzles especially for those dull rainy days. Our Puzzles help children to socialise and get along with other children, share, and contribute during play time. It’s the simple things that make the difference!
The Benefits of Jigsaw Puzzles
Puzzles build eye-hand coordination. The ability to coordinate what the eye sees, the mind wants to do, and what the hands can accomplish takes a lot of practice. Puzzles offer an enjoyable way to practice this skill while encouraging independence.
Puzzles offer a fun way to develop fine motor ability. Children need to develop strength in the muscles in their fingers so that they can grasp things and hold onto them.
Puzzles develop attention, concentration and thinking skills such as recognising, remembering, matching, sorting and problem solving.
Puzzles assist language skills as the child listens and follows instructions and talks about what they are doing and seeing.
All of the above developmental benefits translate into skills that are used in early maths, reading and writing skills.
In conclusion, puzzles are an incredible and versatile learning tool because they offer a host of valuable educational benefits that support child development.
With every purchase you will get Special Free additional downloadable documents (‘Links to Aistear and Puzzles’ and ‘The Benefits of Puzzles’) when you order from Early Years Shop.
